A Show of Hands documentary film
A Show of Hands is a documentary film directed by Wright State University film student Sean W. Mangan. The 10-minute film shares the personal story of how self-taught puppeteer Terrence Burke used his lifelong passion for puppets to turn his life around and follow his dreams after suffering a tragic loss in his family in 2001. This is one man’s story of self-therapy, by sharing happiness and joy with others and helping himself heal. One puppet show at a time.
The film was shot on location over several days in October of 2015 in the Cincinnati, Ohio neighborhood of Northside, and at Wump Mucket Puppets performances in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
The film had its first public screening at the WSU Motion Pictures Program 16th Annual Doc Night at the campus of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on February 12, 2016.

The Cincinnati premiere screening was on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 6:30 pm at the Public Library of Cincinnati’s Northside Branch. It is interesting to note that this is the very same library that Burke’s hand-crafted puppet troupe made their very first library performance at in July 2011.
Enjoy the film!
